“Discover the Magic of Cusco, Peru: An Adventure to Remember.”

Are you looking to experience a wonderland of natural beauty and cultural heritage? Then a trip to Cusco, Peru should be on top of your bucket list. This city, often referred to as the ‘Historical Capital of Peru’, is located at the crossroads of the Andes mountains and the Amazon jungle and has a culture, history, and landscape like no other on Earth.

Cusco’s history dates back to antiquity, with grand Inca ruins scattered throughout the city, as well as smaller ruins from the pre-Inca civilizations. Here, one can find ruins from the Wari and Tiahuanaco cultures that date from approximately 800 AD. The most important Inca ruins in the city are Sacsayhuamán, Qenqo, Pucapucara, and Tambomachay. However, the Incas were not the only people to leave their mark; many churches and buildings were constructed by the Spanish after their conquest in 1533.

Cusco has lush and beautiful green surroundings, and travellers can explore its spectacular rural areas, snow-covered mountains, and other wondrous sights. The main attractions include Sacsayhuamán, an Inca fortress and the most-visited archaeological site in the city; the Plaza de Armas, or main square and home to some of Cusco’s most iconic form buildings; the San Blas district, known for its narrow cobbled streets, artisanal workshops and bustling artsy markets; and, of course, the city’s renowned energetic nightlife.

Whilst in Cusco, travellers have a vast array of activities to choose from. A popular activity includes visiting nearby towns, such as Ollantaytambo, Chinchero and Pisac, to learn about their rich cultural and spiritual history. These areas are also perfect for outdoor activities such as trekking, mountain biking, rafting and horseback riding. For those looking for an adventure, a hike to Machu Picchu is a must.

Foodies can sample some of the region’s local cuisine. Cusco’s culinary scene revolves around hearty dishes with traditional ingredients sourced from the surrounding mountains and valleys, such as corn, potatoes, quinoa, and quail eggs. Traditional delicacies include rocoto relleno (stuffed spicy peppers), lomo saltado (beef stir-fry), and cuy chactado (fried guinea pig).

In short, Cusco is an incredible place to explore, offering travellers the chance to visit beautiful Incan ruins, explore the Andes and Amazon, eat delicious food, and experience vibrant nightlife. Once you visit, you’ll be sure to fall in love with its unique culture and beauty and be charmed by its countless wonders.
