“The City That Never Sleeps: A Guide to Exploring Tokyo, Japan.”

When travelling to Japan, one of the first places people usually visit is the cosmopolitan city of Tokyo. With a population of 13.8 million and hundreds of things to see and do, the city is a must-stop location for any traveller looking to explore the best of Japan. Whether you’re into sightseeing, shopping, dining, art, or nightlife, Tokyo has something to offer everyone.

The best way to get an overview of the city is to take a hop-on/hop-off double-decker bus tour. Perfectly located at popular tourist attractions, these buses make it easy to get around and take in the best of Tokyo’s sights. Of course, it’s worth doing a bit of research before heading out, so you know what to expect.

One of the most iconic and iconic landmarks in Tokyo is the Tokyo Tower. Built in 1959, the 333-metre tower is the second-tallest tower in the world and offers spectacular open-air views from the observation decks. Tokyo Skytree is another must-see structure. Located in the Sumida district, the tower is 634-metre-tall and offers 360-degree views of Tokyo’s skyline.

Shibuya and Harajuku are two of Tokyo’s busiest and trendiest districts. Shibuya is renowned for its incredible nightlife, where visitors can find everything from karaoke bars and jazz clubs to trendy nightclubs and EDM. If you’re looking for some retail therapy, then head over to Harajuku – home to over 200 fashion stores, as well as vintage clothing stores, unique cafes, and restaurants.

One of the most popular attractions in Tokyo is the Tsukiji Fish Market. Despite plans to relocate to a new area, the fish market is still a great place to view the bustling activity of Tokyo’s fishmongers. The market runs at 4am to 9am Monday to Saturday, and the auction starts at 5am. Another popular tourist attraction is the Meiji Jingu Shrine, a beautiful Shinto Shrine dedicated to Emperor Meiji and Empress Shōken.

The Imperial Palace of Tokyo is also worth a visit. It was the former principal residence of the Japanese Imperial Family for more than two centuries, and the current Tokyo Imperial Palace contains the main palace, numerous beautiful gardens, and several anonymous structures. Guided tours are available, and you must make a reservation in advance.

Whatever your tastes and whatever your budget, Tokyo is sure to have something to make your holiday extra special. From traditional temples and shrines to buzzing nightlife spots, there’s something for everyone in this incredible city.
